This installation method is a great option to avoid any drywall or stucco patching. The new energy efficient window fits within the old window frame, then a vinyl trim piece (flange) covers the old window frame on the exterior leaving a thicker window frame. This is the most common installation method for Phoenix stucco homes.
This installation method allows for a sleek thinner frame on stucco homes. The stucco around the window is cut back a couple of inches, and the old window frame is completely removed. Then the new window is installed into the wood framing around the window and the stucco then needs to get patched and then painted.
For homes with block or brick walls the old window is completely removed and the new windows attached with caulking and screws. Block frame installation allows for a thin framed window without needing to patch any walls or paint.
The old patio-door is completely removed and the new custorm doors is attached to the wood framing around the window. Then wood trim is put on the inside and the outside giving the new door a beautiful sleek look.
